The offers support for students impacted by the events in Israel/Gaza. This quarter, the Dean of Student Office anticipates offering two ongoing programs for students seeking safe spaces to process current events:

Healing Circles with the Khalil Center: The will offer healing circles for students who are impacted by the crises in Palestine who are seeking community and support. Khalil Center facilitators will provide healing circles for a shared and collective space to help students share, reflect and process emotions. Trained facilitators will guide the circle through a series of prompts and debriefs that will lead to abundant conversations. These circles will last one hour, and may be extended should there be interest/need from our students. The circle is conducted in a contained, safe space, and can lead to a transformative and healing experience to cope with current tragedies.

Listening Circles with Rabbi Darren Kleinberg: Rabbi Darren Kleinberg will lead Listening Circles for students who are feeling impacted by the events in Israel/Gaza and are looking for a safe space to be heard and express themselves. In these gatherings, attendees will take time to settle in, establish group norms, introduce themselves, and then have open time to share and be heard. All are welcome and encouraged to arrive with open hearts.

Rabbi Darren Kleinberg is a Chaplain Resident at Stanford Medicine. From 2019 to 2023, he served as Visiting Scholar with The Concentration in Education and Jewish Studies and Stanford Graduate School of Education. Prior to that, Darren spent 12 years working as a Jewish high school educator and administrator. He brings an empathetic and compassionate orientation to the work of group facilitation.
